What is Directive (EU) 2019/1937 and to Whom Does it Mandatorily Apply?
Directive (EU) 2019/1937 on the protection of persons who report breaches of Union law requires certain organisations to provide internal channels through which breaches of law can be reported under conditions of confidentiality and protection against retaliation.
Scope of Application: Covered Organizations
The obligation to implement an internal reporting channel applies to:
- Legal entities with at least 50 employees.
- Organisations operating in regulated sectors, including financial services, financial markets, anti-money laundering, and other sectors provided for by applicable law, regardless of headcount.
